Welcome
Felicity Snow
For me latest Author Spotlight, I’m joined by the fabulous Felicity Snow. We talked about writing character drive stories, her steamy stepbrother new release, and the book that has a special place in her heart.
Take it away Felicity…
First things first, please introduce yourself!
Hi, I’m Felicity and I published my debut novella last February! Since then I’ve published five more mm romance books. I write contemporary romance with heart, heat and humour, and generally a bit of hurt/comfort.
Tell us a little bit about your writing style.
I think my writing style is fairly simplistic, but I like to think it’s poetic too. I don’t use a lot of descriptors or big words. I write what I feel, and what I think the characters are feeling. My stories are more character driven than plot driven, I would say. They are also on the shorter side because that’s what I like to read! Anywhere from 16k words to 80k. I love boys who aren’t afraid to feel, so there will definitely be tears in my stories, but they will always get their hea.
Describe your books in only three words.
Heart, heat, humour.
Can you tell us a little bit about your latest release?
My most recent release is Stepbrother Mine, and stepbrother erotic novella. It’s very different from my other books, being mostly smut with very little plot but I absolutely loved writing it! It’s got lots of kink and is super low angst but still has its sweet moments mixed in with the spice. It follows two stepbrothers, Rome and Sebastian who are polar opposites, but grow very close during the year that they live together before Rome goes off to college. They are best friends. Then once Sebastian goes to college they start living together again and one night at a party are dared to kiss each other. That sparks feelings and desires in Rome he never had for Sebastian before, and things take off from there 🙂
Out of all your books, which one are you most proud of?
I would have to say Until You. It was a story I really wanted to tell, one that I felt needed to be told, and while it was definitely the most difficult to write, for a variety of reasons, it has a very special place in my heart and I am beyond proud of it.
What or who (or both) has influenced you most as a writer?
There are a few authors whose works I really admire. I don’t think my stuff is nearly as incredible as theirs but I strive for it to be! TJ Klune, Alexis Hall, and Nicky James are just a few authors I really admire and made me want to write too.
What inspired you to start writing?
I’ve loved writing since I was a young teenager. I remember writing stories with my two best friends in junior high, lol. And I was always the student that would much rather write a paper than take a test! I actually got into it more as an adult when I started writing fan fiction
What’s your writing process like? Do you have a typical “writing day”?
I don’t have a schedule, I’m too scatterbrained for that, lol. I write when I feel compelled to write, so I don’t try to knock out a certain amount of words in a certain time. That would stress me out too much. And I know if I write something when I’m not wanting to write, but forcing myself to, it will be garbage anyway, so I just stick to my gut.
What comes first for you – the plot or the characters?
I’m not sure. I honestly think it might depend on the story. Probably the plot, though, if I had to pick.
What’s a book that you wish you’d written?
Broken by Nicola Haken. It’s absolutely beautiful and my favorite mm book of all time.
If you could only write one trope for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Probably age gap! I love it!
What would be your three desert island books?
Probably the Sons of the Fallen series by Jaclyn Osborn. There’s more than three, but that’s okay, right? 🙂
If one of your books could be made into a movie/TV series, which would you choose and who would you cast?
Oh, gosh, that’s so hard! I’m probably gonna pick my debut novella, Chasing You because I think it would make the perfect little Netflix film! Cash and Emmet are so sweet together. As far as actors go, ugh, I honestly don’t think I’m up enough on who is who these days to decide, lol.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Do you have a secret passion or hobby that we don’t know about?
I love reading when I’m not writing, lol. But I also love decorating, scrapbooking, really anything that lets me be creative!
Finally, what’s your favourite dinosaur?
Brontosaurus!!!

FELICITY SNOW:
I live in sunny Florida with my husband, three children, and our Maltese. I love rainy days and sunshine, curling up with a good book, and watching my favorite tv show Supernatural. I’m a huge Disney fan (Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite movie) and I believe that Starbucks is a form of self care 🙂 I love creativity in all of its forms which is why writing is such a passion for me.
