For my latest Author Spotlight I’m joined by the lovely Jena Wade. We chatted about the start of her brand new series, writing swoon worthy romance, and how a New Years resolution changed her life.

Over to you Jena…

First things first, please introduce yourself!
Hi! I’m Jena Wade! Thanks so much for having me. I have been writing for almost a decade now. I primarily write mpreg.

Tell us a little bit about your writing style.
Where sweet meets sexy! If you like swoon worthy romance with some heat, then my books are for you! My characters are guaranteed a happily every after, with a bit of drama along the way. Not too much angst, but I don’t make it easy for them either.

Describe your books in only three words.
Sweet. Sexy. Satisfying.

Can you tell us a little about your latest release?
My latest release is His Damaged Pride. It is part of the Waiting Hearts world which is a long standing, co-written series with Lorelei M. Hart. This book starts the Asilo Pride series, in which we learn about a pride of omegas who work to save and rehabilitate omegas who have been hurt.

Out of all your books, which one are you most proud of?
The entire Waiting Hearts world has been a joy to write. There are over twenty books total and each one gets better and better.

What or who (or both) has influenced you most as a writer?
Stephen King. I love his writing, his style, how he builds his characters in such depth. It’s amazing. 

What inspired you to start writing?
I always wanted to be a writer, so one year (2013) I made it my New Years resolution to actually do it, and ten years later I’ve continued to stick to it!

What’s your writing process like? Do you have a typical “writing day”?
Ooof, my proces is weird. Lol. I have to have an outline. I dictate my chapters, then I “clean” them up, then I revise at least twice before the chapter is considered done. It’s quite the process, but it works for me.

What comes first for you – the plot or the characters?
Plot.

What’s a book that you wish you’d written?
Not sure… Lately I’ve been watching Yellowstone, and I’d love to write characters that have level of depth and perseverance to them.

If you could only write one trope for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Arranged Marriage/Marriage of Convenience. I just love it. Even though I’ve only written two books like that. It’s fun.

What would be your three desert island books?

Misery, Stephen King
Doctor Sleep, Stephen King

If one of your books could be made into a movie/TV series, which would you choose and who would you cast?
Oh goodness… that’s a tough one. Let’s go with my latest book – His Damaged Pride.

Jason Statham as Gideon.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Do you have a secret passion or hobby that we don’t know about?
Gardening! I love being outside.

Finally, what’s your favourite dinosaur?
Diplodocus!

JENA WADE: I live in Michigan with my husband, two dogs, and three children. By day I work as a software developer and at night I write. I was born and raised on a farm and I spend most of my free time outdoors, playing in the garden or tending to my landscaping.
