Welcome
A. M. Rose
For this week’s Author Spotlight, I’m joined by the amazing A. M. Rose. We talked about how the duo met, turning tropes upside down, writing together and plotting world domination.
Take it away A. M….
First things first, please introduce yourself!
Hi to everyone reading this. A. M. Rose is a pseudonym hiding two writers. We met seemingly a lifetime ago, writing fanfic if you can believe it. It went from being fans of each other’s work, to collabing on a fic to becoming best friends and then finally, fulfilling our lifelong dream to become writers.
We’re as opposite as two people can be but we bond over mutual interests. We’re both gigantic nerds, sarcastic AF, we love books, movies, music and anything Disney.
Oh and dogs. We love doggos ☺
Tell us a little bit about your writing style.
Our writing style is… interesting. We’d like to say there’s a method to our madness but for the most part…it’s just madness. We start with a pretty clear idea of what we want and then somewhere along the mayhem begins.
We have a lot of creative ideas, we love to turn known tropes upside down, but our favorite thing is creating memorable, well rounded characters that people can fall in love with.
Describe your books in only three words.
Whimsical, imaginative, family
Can you tell us a little about your latest release?
Our last release was a story that caught us completely by surprise. It’s called Faces. It’s a story about a world very similar to ours with one key difference. The existence of The Artist – a person who can draw the face of your soulmate for you.
The story follows Dorian, The Artist, as he navigates his own love life with Hayden, a person who doesn’t believe in soulmates. The story is emotional, and sweet and readers gave us amazing feedback.
Out of all your books, which one are you most proud of?
Whirlwind, book three of our Daydream, Colorado series. We had so much fun writing it, we had to tie up so many threads we left in previous books, a lot of interesting things got their resolution and then on top of that, there were two really fun characters falling in love while irritating each other at the same time.
What or who (or both) has influenced you most as a writer?
Both of us grew up reading, watching and playing fantasy and sci-fi books, movies tv-shows and video games. So all our books have an element of something fantasy, magical, paranormal.
What inspired you to start writing?
We always wanted to write. As kids we wrote short stories and made up our little worlds. It was always the dream. But it took meeting each other to give us that final push to actually do it and publish. We couldn’t have done it without each other.
What’s your writing process like? Do you have a typical “writing day”?
It can be hard because we both work full time jobs. So we usually check in with each other at the end of each day and figure out what each of us should do the next day, whenever there is free time for us. We set a word goal for ourselves and then report back to each other when we meet them. There’s really no typical day. Just catching moments when we can do what we love the most which is write.
What comes first for you – the plot or the characters?
First, a very vague plot… like… what if there was a magical community. And then characters. Always people and who they are, what they do. The intricate plot builds around them.
What’s a book that you wish you’d written?
OMG Lord of the Rings. We will never forgive Tolkien for beating us to it XD
If you could only write one trope for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Grumpy/sunshine. It’s such a fun trope that you can spin in so many different ways. We love it!
What would be your three desert island books?
A Song of Ice and Fire series. So we can light it on fire and keep ourselves warm XD
If one of your books could be made into a movie/TV series, which would you choose and who would you cast?
Our debut novel Returning Home would make a pretty amazing movie. Action, romance, adventure, gorgeous scenery, it would be awesome.
We would want Luke Newberry to play Reed, our lovely Omega wolf, and Joe Manganiello to be our broody, strong, angry at the world Alpha.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing? Do you have a secret passion or hobby that we don’t know about?
We game, watch a lot of TV shows and movies, play D&D, craft, and plot world domination we’re too lazy to actually carry out. Just normal stuff.
Finally, what’s your favourite dinosaur?
We have our first disagreement XD
A: Raptor
M: Brontosaurus
To be fair, our choices sum up our personalities quite well!

A. M. ROSE is a pseudonym that hides two very nerdy personas. They met a lot of years ago fangirling over fictional characters someone else created and thought…why not try and create some of our own. They live in different countries but that doesn’t stop them from being best friends, sisters, accomplices and more than likely, each other’s alibis (should anyone ever need one…they’re very much anti-crime…mostly). They enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, good books, music, traveling, dogs and planning new books that’ll take them ages to actually write. They’re master procrastinators, lovers of dad jokes and puns (well one of them is, the other one just suffers in silent resignation), and sarcastic to boot. And they’re really glad you decided to pick up their book and spend some time in their world.
For more information on A. M. Rose and their work you can find them on Instagram, Twitter, and also sign up for their newsletter. You can also join their Facebook Reader Group, Rose Garden, for more news and updates.
